LIFESPAN-A Year of Achievements throughout Our Collection of Community Programs

Fiscal year 2015-2016 was truly a successful year for our organization in the areas of education, employment, and enrichment.  Five hundred twenty-three LIFESPAN associates supported 1,549 children and adults with disabilities throughout our collection of community programs.  Over the past three years, our employment services have assisted 441 adults in finding a job of their choosing and our program participants have volunteered 48,365 hours in their communities.  Our two inclusive childcare centers in Burlington and Statesville have received 5 STAR ratings from the state and our creative campuses are providing diverse learning opportunities on our campuses and in the community.

Quality is our foundation on which we build from year-to-year.  Our customers and their families are very satisfied with our services this year and we received a 98.4% satisfaction rating.  Some of the positive comments included, "LIFESPAN is doing a great job equipping its participants the ability to improve on skills that they are capable of obtaining"; "You can tell the staff care about the children and their well-being"; "Individuals love it! That is all that matters"; and "LIFESPAN provides a variety of activities to meet individual needs".  Our organization also received 124 external compliance audits from regulatory bodies at the local and state level and achieved a 98.7% rating.

We received generous support from donors and the community.  LIFESPAN was the beneficiary of 10 grants totaling $151,169 for special projects and general support and also received financial gifts of $364,744.  Forty-one in-kind donations provided necessary program supplies while community stakeholders provided 4,172 hours in volunteer time.  Volunteers from around the state extended helping hands to make facility improvements from Waynesville to Burlington.

We have so much to be proud of and are so grateful for all the support received from so many committed funders, advocates, donors, and volunteers throughout 42 incredible years.  LIFESPAN will continue to thrive in decades to come, please join us on our exciting journey.
