Training Programs
LIFESPAN believes that continuous investment in training is essential for improving employee’s performance and enhancing the services we provide. Training and development is essential in attracting a knowledgeable and skilled workforce.
PreService Training
All new hires go through new hire (“PreService”) training. This training is conducted for four consecutive days and provide employees with an overview of LIFESPAN, its philosophy and mission, its programs and services, as well as key concepts and topics necessary to success in the job and the organization. All new employees must pass this training program to be able to start working with the individuals we support.
Health and Safety Training
A top priority at LIFESPAN is to provide all employees, people we support, customers and volunteers a safe, clean and hazard-free environment. To ensure that all health and safety policies, procedures, regulations and directives are being followed, LIFESPAN has developed a training program for employees and the people we support. All LIFESPAN employees and people we support will be subject to health and safety trainings pertinent to their job description or job task. One safety training is required per month per program and/or Business Enterprise.
Annual Updates
In accordance with federal and state Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) regulations and/or LIFESPAN policy, employees must complete training in a variety of topics annually.
Supervisory/Management Training
LIFESPAN strives for best practices in the operation and management of its programs and services. It looks to its leaders to drive those best practice initiatives. By establishing a strong learning environment that supports both initial and ongoing training and development of both current and future leaders, LIFESPAN ensures the proper development of its leaders.
The Human Resources Department establishes guidelines and offers opportunities for training and development to ensure the ongoing leadership capacity of the Federal workforce and to assist the organization in meeting its managerial development objectives.
LIFESPAN is constantly learning and improving. Throughout the year, opportunities for training and development are offered to employees. Such opportunities may be through programs and curricula offered internally by Human Resources or Training, or through publicly offered programs.
