| Iredell County Man Receives LIFESPAN Volunteer of the Year Award Davan Cloninger, Senior Vice President & Chief Operating Officer presented the LIFESPAN Volunteer of the Year Award to Thomas Smith of Statesville. This award was given in honor of the selfless volunteer work that Thomas has done for LIFESPAN in Iredell, Surry, Guilford, Union and Stanly counties. The Volunteer of the Year Award is given to a person in North Carolina who stands out due to their passionate commitment to the mission while consistently going beyond the call of duty. | |||
| LIFESPAN Arts to Host Access – Art Show and Reception on June 23 On Thursday, June 23, LIFESPAN Arts will host Access, an art show and reception featuring five resident artists. The region's first mobile enhanced art show will use QR codes that can be scanned using smart phones or camera enabled mobile devices, to increase interactivity with the artwork. Guests are encouraged to download the free barcode scanning app ScanLife prior to the show. | |||

Davan joined LIFESPAN in 1998 and has done a tremendous job leading the program management for this organization. | 100 LIFESPAN Participants and Familes Were Seen and Heard at Rally Day In Raleigh LIFESPAN organized a trip to Raleigh on May 10th for over 100 people to advocate to their legislator’s for continuation of services. All participants wore red clothing in order to be “noticed” as they walked through the halls of the legislative buildings and offices. | |||
| Gift Shop Open House, Plant Sale & Bake Sale LIFESPAN Creative Campus-Guilford will be hosting an Open House for our on-site gift shop as well as a plant and bake sale on Saturday, June 4th from 8am to 1pm. The gift shop features items that have been handmade by participants in our program. | |||

| LIFESPAN Circle School in Mt. Airy Receives 5 Star Rating Every daycare in North Carolina goes through a STAR rating assessment every three years. The one to five star rating systems was created by the N.C. Division of Child Development to evaluate child care centers on components of quality, staff education and program standards. An additional benefit of the star rated licensure system is that it recognizes providers for the higher quality care that they provide. LIFESPAN’s Circle School scored 15 out of 15 points to achieve this rating. | |||
| LifeSpan held a Philanthropy Luncheon on Wednesday February 11, 2009 to celebrate 35 years of non-profit service for children and adults with developmental disabilities. LifeSpan began in 1973 when five children were excluded from Charlotte Mecklenburg Schools due to their significant developmental disabilities. Today, there are 26 locations between Waynesville and Burlington providing services in the areas of education, employment and enrichment. | |||
| Volunteers Plan Weekend Work Project for LifeSpan Circle School BURLINGTON, NC Nov. 22, 2008 – Volunteers from the Legacy Center Leadership Program will lead other volunteers in a weekend work project Saturday and Sunday, November 22 and 23 at the LifeSpan Circle School Burlington. This school transforms the lives of children and adults with developmental disabilities by providing education, employment, and enrichment programs to affected children and their families. Over the weekend the group plans to build a gazebo and upgrade the playground equipment and sandboxes. | |||
